Melting Lighthouse on Galician Night Shore
by Toni Holmes
A lighthouse stands on the rugged Galician coast under a deep night sky, its beam sweeping across the water in rhythmic arcs. The structure itself defies physics, the stone base softening into a thick, glowing wax-like pool that spreads across the wet sand. Salt spray hangs suspended in the air, catching the light as fine, glittering dust. Low ground fog pools around the melting foundation, obscuring the feet of the tower while leaving the upper walls sharp against the darkness. The water mirrors the lighthouse and the sweeping beam, creating a perfect vertical symmetry. The impossible substance drips slowly, maintaining the solid form of the tower above while surrendering to the earth below. one drop of luminescent fluid hangs from the edge of the melted base, trembling in the still air.
