Peeling Birch Bark in Dawn Rain Krabi

Cold silver dawn light falls across a cluster of birch trees near Krabi during the rainy season. White bark peels in long, papery strips that curl at the edges, resting against the rough, textured trunks. Raindrops hang from the wood surfaces and wet green leaves, creating a glossy sheen on the pale fibers. Fallen bark fragments scatter across the dark, damp ground beneath the canopy. Water flows along the vertical grain of the trees, pooling in the crevices between layers. A droplet rests on the tip of a curling strip, holding the gray sky in its reflection.
