Under the flat glare of noon, a narrow stone alley in Fez opens to reveal the historic tannery district where workers in white djellabas stand in shallow vats. The harsh light exposes the vibrant hues of dyed leather hanging in rows above. A pair of metal kitchen tongs rests on a nearby clay ledge, likely used for handling the hides. In the background, traditional mud-brick walls show signs of age and repair. A few wooden crates are stacked near the entrance of a shop, while shadows from the overhead beams cut sharply across the dusty ground. The daily labor and architectural texture of the medina without artificial staging.
