Night-blooming Cereus Open in Morning Light

Bright midmorning sun casts hard coastal glare across a tight close-up of a night-blooming cereus flower. The white petals stand stark against a backdrop of green meadow grass in Andhra Pradesh. Tiny raindrops rest on the soft, layered texture of the bloom and the surrounding foliage. The cool season air leaves the green stems vibrant and wet. Droplets slide slowly down the curved edges of the petals. The center of the flower reveals pale yellow stamens dusted with fine pollen. Water beads on the serrated leaves of the plant. The heavy light creates sharp shadows beneath the open bloom.
