Crimson Amaryllis in Suriname Terraced Garden

Tall stems of crimson amaryllis rise sharply from dark, wet earth within the terraced plots of a Suriname garden. Heavy, low-hanging clouds press against the sky, diffusing the silvery winter light into a cool, flat glow that washes over the scene. The deep red petals stand out in bold contrast against the muted gray tones of the overcast sky and the shadowed green foliage of the surrounding terraces. Rain-slicked soil glistens under the pale illumination, while layers of the garden recede into the distance, showing deep, quiet space. One droplet rests on the edge of a lower leaf, catching the faint silver light.
