Moonlit Bell Tower with Pigeon Nests
by Hailey Wu
Pale moonlight washes over the crumbling stone facade of a historic bell tower near Salvador, highlighting deep cracks and eroded masonry. Dark silhouettes of pigeons cluster within the open belfry, their feathers blending with the shadows of the bell mechanism. The structure stands isolated against a perfectly clear, deep indigo night sky, the absence of clouds showing the stark geometry of the tower. Rain-slicked surfaces reflect the cold light, creating sharp highlights on the wet stone edges. Inside the tower's opening, a frame-within-a-frame view reveals the dark, intricate metalwork of the bells and ropes where the birds have nested. The rough texture of the aged brick contrasts with the smooth, wet stone of the lower walls. One pigeon rests on a jagged ledge, its head tucked into its wing.
