Harsh fluorescent light cuts through the humid darkness, illuminating a Buddhist monk kneeling on wet concrete near the Tapachula riverside. The figure wears deep saffron robes that absorb the glow, while a vibrant geometric sand mandala spreads across the ground before him. His hand sweeps forward, pushing the colored grains into a narrow channel leading toward the churning water. Sea spray hangs in the air, catching the artificial beam as fine, suspended droplets.
