Mizoram Terraced Ruins Golden Hour Rain

by Clara Donovan

Last light spills across a crumbling row of terraced houses where boarded windows seal dark voids. Tall grasses reclaim the courtyard, swaying in the wind that whips through the gaps in the masonry. The rainy season leaves surfaces slick with moisture, turning the reddish earth into a muddy texture beneath the overgrown stems. Layers of depth recede from the foreground debris to the distant, shadowed facades. Peeling paint flakes from the wood, revealing the gray bone of the structure against the fading amber sky. One shutter hangs loose, tapping against the frame.
