Abandoned Tin Mine Engine House on Mizoram Clifftop
by Ruby Hunter
Warm golden light spills across the rusted corrugated iron walls of a solitary engine house perched on a steep cliff edge in Mizoram. The structure stands weathered, its paint peeling to reveal layers of orange and brown oxidation beneath. Overgrown ferns and scrubby grasses creep up the stone foundation, softening the harsh industrial lines. A metallic haze hovers just above the concrete floor, catching the low sun and scattering it in a hazy glow. The sky behind the building transitions from deep amber to soft violet, marking the turn of seasons. Shadows stretch long across the uneven ground, showing the height of the corrugated sheets and the rough texture of the stone base. A rusted pipe protrudes from the side, its surface pitted and dull against the vibrant evening sky.
