Wet pavement reflects magenta and electric blue neon light from a nearby storefront, illuminating a rain-darkened kiosk and a rusted iron fire escape ladder. The ladder hangs vertically above an overflowing metal dumpster, its rungs slick with wet season moisture. Heavy overcast skies cast a diffuse gray glow that mutes the shadows while water beads on the corrugated metal walls. Pools of water gather in cracks along the alley floor, mirroring the chaotic street glow. The rusted iron structure rests beside the kiosk, while the dumpster lid catches the reflection of the overhead lights. A drop of water slides down the final rung, disappearing into the grime below.
