Melting Red Beacon Tower Sapporo Canal Lock

A telecommunication mast stands rigid in the early afternoon light of a Sapporo canal lock, its red navigation beacon glowing against the polar night mist. Blowing snow swirls around the steel structure, obscuring the distant lock gates while converging concrete walls guide toward a vanishing point. The base of the tower defies physics, softening into a viscous, molten wax-like pool that spreads across the wet pavement. The red light reflects sharply on the liquid metal surface, against the gray, rain-slicked stone of the lock chamber. Thick fog hangs low, dampening the background while the foreground remains crisp, highlighting the impossible fusion of industrial steel and fluid substance.
