Man o War and Giant Mushrooms at Shenzhen Harbor

Midnight street lamp light spills across wet harbor concrete, illuminating a floating Portuguese man-of-war with deep blue, trailing tentacles. The creature hovers just above the ground, its gas bladder glowing faintly against the dark water. Surrounding the floating marine organism, massive mushroom caps the size of umbrellas rise from puddles between discarded crates and metal railings. Their stems are thick and pale, anchoring them firmly in the rain-slicked pavement. Wind whips the translucent blue tentacles into sharp, linear patterns while the giant fungi remain still. The wet season moisture coats every surface in a glossy sheen. One blue tentacle tip rests against the stem of the nearest mushroom cap.
