Man o War Floating in Nanjing Square Frost

Soft gray morning light washes over a public square in Nanjing, where frost coats the stone pavement and nearby benches. At the right edge of the view, a Portuguese man-o-war floats unnaturally low to the ground, its deep blue pneumatophore resting on the frozen stones. Trailing tentacles drape across the cold surface, their translucent blue fibers glistening with ice crystals. The creature’s bell curves upward, defying the gravity of the urban setting. In the background, traditional Chinese architecture and modern concrete structures fade into the overcast haze. Frost rests on the metal railings and the bare branches of a nearby ginkgo tree, turning the leaves a brittle gold. The blue of the jellyfish contrasts sharply with the white frost and the gray tones of the city.
