Lotus Bloom Between Stone Steps at Sanaa Shrine in at the foot of a stone altar in Sanaa

Lotus Bloom Between Stone Steps at Sanaa Shrine

by Mason Lamb

Pale yellow petals of a single lotus rise from a shallow stone basin nestled at the foot of a weathered altar. The water surface mirrors the soft, diffused light bouncing off the surrounding pale limestone walls, creating a gentle, muted glow. Rough-hewn stone steps descend into the tank on either side, their edges worn smooth by time and touch. The composition aligns perfectly, drawing the eye straight to the flower centered between the dark, damp crevices of the masonry. Dried earth tones from the turn of seasons coat the basin rim, against the vibrant green of the lotus stem. A faint reflection of the upper archway shimmers in the still water near the foreground.
