Lotus Flower Blooms Between Stone Steps in Raqqa Nave

Harsh fluorescent light cuts across the interior of a candlelit nave in Raqqa, revealing a temple tank set between weathered stone steps. Water fills the basin, its surface reflecting the stark overhead glow while deep shadows settle into the corners of the masonry. Dampness from the monsoon season darkens the stone texture, making the grey blocks appear heavy and solid. Pink lotus petals rise from the center, positioned symmetrically against the rigid lines of the descending steps. The water remains flat, holding the reflection of the light fixture above. A thin line of light falls across the wet edge of the lowest step.
