Tilting Minaret Mosque on Stone Altar Floor

by Cash Horn

Soft, indirect light reflects off pale, dusty walls inside a vast indoor space. A crumbling mosque structure sits precariously at the base of a rough-hewn stone altar. The minaret leans sharply to the right, its brickwork fractured and eroded by time. Late summer heat hangs heavy in the still air, visible through the dry texture of the crumbling masonry. Muted reflections stretch across the polished floor, mirroring the damaged arches and the tilted tower. The stone altar rises behind the mosque, its surface scarred and uneven. Shadows fall across the debris scattered near the foundation, highlighting the contrast between the sacred geometry of the mosque and the rugged natural stone. A cracked tile fragment rests near the base of the leaning tower.
