Lavender Harvest in Black Forest Vineyard in between vineyard trellises in the Black Forest

Lavender Harvest in Black Forest Vineyard

by Colton Gallagher

Clear dry mountain light cuts across rows of lavender where workers move between vineyard trellises in the Black Forest. Early winter air leaves the landscape stripped of summer bloom, yet the harvest continues with weather-shaped practicality. The workers wear heavy wool coats and sturdy boots as they cut the fragrant stalks. After a storm clearing, the sky opens to reveal pale blue patches above the dark green vines. Dust settles on the soil while the purple spikes of lavender stand tall against the wooden posts. Leading lines of the trellises guide toward the distant tree line where the forest begins. The ground shows patches of frost and damp earth from the recent rain. Shadows stretch long across the field as the sun dips low.
