Amber Sunset Over Lavender Fields Near Tianjin

by Roberto Walker

Rich amber light spills across endless rows of lavender stretching toward the horizon near Tianjin. The early winter season leaves the plants with muted purple hues and dry, woody stems swaying vigorously in the wind. Each stalk bends in unison, creating a rhythmic wave that ripples across the entire field. The sky above holds a gradient of deep orange fading into soft violet, casting long, sharp shadows between the rows. Dust kicks up slightly around the base of the plants, catching the low sun and glowing like gold. The texture of the dried lavender contrasts with the smooth, dark earth beneath. One stalk in the immediate foreground leans heavily to the right, its tip brushing against the dusty ground.
