Indigo twilight settles over a stone courtyard in Yogyakarta as a musician plays the rebab. Footlights cast a warm, amber glow that illuminates the player's focused expression and the curved body of the stringed instrument. Dust particles drift through the beams, catching the light like suspended gold. The musician wears a traditional batik shirt, its patterns sharp against the darkening sky. Behind them, the low silhouette of a Javanese shrine gate frames the performance. The bow moves in a steady, rhythmic arc across the two strings. Shadows stretch long across the flagstones, where the dry season dust creates a soft haze. The instrument's polished wood reflects the footlights, while the player's hand grips the bow with practiced precision.
