Cool indigo light fills a spacious rehearsal room in Melbourne during the dead of winter. A musician sits on the floor, bowing a sarangi with intense focus. The instrument rests against their chest, its wooden neck angled upward. Behind the player, a large window reveals a dark, clear night sky, against the warm, dim interior lighting. The room contains scattered mats and a few chairs pushed against the far wall. Dust motes float in the shafts of light from a single overhead bulb. The player wears a thick, dark wool sweater, their hands moving rhythmically along the strings. Shadows stretch long across the polished concrete floor, ending at the edge of a woven rug.
