Inverted Cloud Waterfall Over Bogotá Floodplain

by Courtney Aguilar

Flat noon light floods the Bogotá floodplain, illuminating a surreal reversal where a massive cloud structure cascades downward from the sky like a waterfall. The white mass tumbles over a low ridge, dissolving into a thick, low-hanging mist that blankets the wet grass. Beneath the falling clouds, a sheet of standing water reflects the inverted sky with perfect clarity. Suspended in mid-air, a distinct splash of water hangs frozen, every individual droplet sharply defined against the gray and white backdrop. The scale is vast, stretching across the entire horizon. At the very bottom edge, a single droplet hangs suspended, defying gravity.
