Cooling Tower Rising Through River Fog in Serbia

Cold silver dawn light washes over a massive concrete cooling tower rising from the mist. Heavy overcast skies hang low, diffusing the early morning glow into a flat, metallic sheen. Thick river fog rests on the ground, obscuring the base of the structure and blending with the gray service road lined with parallel pipes. Late autumn leaves, brown and brittle, scatter across the damp asphalt near the pipe supports. The concrete surface shows a rough, pitted texture, stained by decades of industrial runoff. A network of steel valves and flanges connects the pipes running along the road edge. The tower's hyperbolic curve disappears into the white vapor above, while the road stretches forward into the gray haze, ending at the water's unseen edge. One rusted bolt on a pipe flange reflects the dull sky.
