Horizontal Wasabi Plant on Kathmandu Pier Wall in on a pier railing near Kathmandu

Horizontal Wasabi Plant on Kathmandu Pier Wall

by Dan Acevedo

Pale autumn light bounces off cream-colored walls to illuminate a wasabi plant growing horizontally from a wooden pier railing. The green fronds extend straight out, defying gravity while remaining fully leafed and healthy. Water droplets rest on the serrated edges of the leaves, catching the soft reflections on the nearby smooth surfaces. The rough texture of the weathered wood contrasts with the delicate veins of the foliage. one drop of water rests on the tip of a leaf, mirroring the pale wall behind it. The composition holds a disciplined focus on the impossible growth against the structured architecture.
