Hokkaido Ridge Col Above Snowy Peaks at Dawn

Heavy gray clouds press low over a rugged ridge in Hokkaido, where a deep col cuts between two snow-capped summits. The polar night lingers, yet a sliver of low sun breaks the horizon haze, casting a pale, diffused glow on the distant atmospheric layers. Below the ridge, stepped foothills fade into mist, their contours softened by the overcast sky. Snow blankets the peaks in thick, unbroken white, against the dark, shadowed rock faces of the col. The light remains flat and cool, highlighting the texture of the frozen ridgeline against the soft, rolling haze of the valleys. A thin line of shadow stretches across the snow in the foreground, marking the edge of the ridge.
