Hedgehog Foraging Under Garden Light at Midnight in beside a tidal inlet near Bhiwandi

Hedgehog Foraging Under Garden Light at Midnight

by Terry Webb

Silvery winter light spills from a garden fixture, illuminating a small hedgehog navigating the damp earth beside a tidal inlet. The animal's spines catch the cool glow as wind whips through nearby grasses, bending them sharply against the ground. Behind the creature, dark water ripples under a sky heavy with the turn of seasons. The soil appears dark and textured, scattered with fallen leaves that rest on the surface. Shadows stretch long and sharp across the uneven terrain, defining the hedgehog's rounded form. At the very edge of the frame, a wet stone reflects the harsh overhead beam, marking the boundary between the dry path and the tidal mud.
