Gray Pigeons in Beijing

A cluster of gray pigeons gathers on the sun-drenched brick ledge of a traditional Beijing courtyard wall. Their iridescent neck feathers catch the bright late morning light, creating patches of purple and green against their dusty plumage. One bird stretches its neck forward to peck at a stray crumb near the rough mortar joints. The warm, textured red bricks that define the historic architecture of the neighborhood.
