Glassblower Shapes Vase at Market Hall Glory Hole

Deep indigo light from the late afternoon window spills across the rough concrete floor of the Georgetown market hall, mixing with the warm glow of overhead lamps. A glassblower stands before the glowing orange mouth of the glory hole, his silhouette defined against the intense heat. He manipulates a long metal rod holding a molten vessel, the glass softening into a vase shape. Shadows stretch long and sharp along the brick walls, showing the cool season air. The rough texture of the workshop contrasts with the smooth, fluid curve of the glowing glass. one drop of sweat hangs from the artisan's brow, catching the ambient light.
