Glassblower Shapes Vase Midday Workshop Ankara
by Claire Craft
Soft, overcast light fills the Ankara workshop, washing the concrete floor in a neutral gray tone. A glassblower stands centered, hands steady on a long metal punty rod. At the rod's end, a glowing orange vase takes shape, its surface smooth and molten. The worker wears a heavy, soot-stained apron that contrasts with the clean, white walls surrounding the workspace. Behind the figure, a large window frames a patch of late spring sky, pale and clouded. Tools rest neatly on a steel bench to the left, their chrome surfaces reflecting the diffuse daylight. The air appears still, holding the heat rising from the hot glass. A thin wisp of steam curls upward from the cooling glass, dissipating against the high ceiling before fading into the quiet space.
