Georgian Choir Singing in Stone Tower Amid Jungle Vines
by Wade Harrell
Thick emerald jungle vines strangle the lower half of the stone tower interior, wrapping around the choir members in a single season. Ten singers in dark ceremonial robes stand in a tight formation, their mouths open mid-song against the backdrop of a concert hall in Essen. Golden hour light streams through high windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air and casting long, rhythmic shadows across the wet stone floor. A light drizzle falls from the vaulted ceiling, beading on the rough masonry and the glossy leaves of the invasive vines. The contrast between the ancient, rigid architecture and the wild, organic growth creates a surreal tension. Water droplets rest on the edges of the stone arches, reflecting the warm glow of the setting sun.
