Pale afternoon light falls through tall rehearsal-room windows, casting soft, diffuse illumination across the stone nave of a Dresden abbey. A line of boys in dark robes stands in a wide formation, their mouths open mid-song. The heavy overcast sky outside turns the window panes into sheets of muted gray, against the warm, worn texture of the surrounding limestone walls. Dust motes hang suspended in the shafts of light above the choir. The high vaulted ceiling disappears into shadow at the top of the frame, showing the scale of the space. At the far end, a wooden choir stall catches a faint reflection of the gray light, anchoring the composition in the quiet intensity of the moment.
