Choir Singing in Candlelit Theater Stage Chongqing

Midsummer sunset light spills across a theater stage in Chongqing where a choir stands in formation. Dozens of beeswax candles cast a warm, flickering glow on their faces and robes, against the cool blue of the fading sky visible through high windows. Dramatic, heavy clouds gather outside, their dark undersides illuminated by the last rays of the sun. The low angle emphasizes the height of the choir and the vast, empty space of the stage around them. Dust motes float in the candle beams, and shadows stretch long across the wooden floorboards. The singers hold their positions with quiet intensity, their mouths open in song, framed by the dark, looming structure of the theater interior.
