Frozen Waterfall Aerial View Sapporo Winter
by Eileen Li
Steel-blue ambient light bathes a massive sheet of ice cascading down a steep ravine in the dead of winter. From directly above, the frozen waterfall appears as a jagged, translucent ribbon winding through snow-covered terraced hillsides near Sapporo. The ice surface displays deep fissures and rough textures where water once rushed, against the smooth, powdery snow blanketing the surrounding slopes. A perfectly clear sky stretches endlessly above, casting a cool, uniform glow that flattens shadows and emphasizes the topographic scale. The terraced fields below the falls show faint geometric lines of ancient agricultural steps, now buried under deep white drifts. Sharp edges of rock protrude through the ice, marking the waterfall's path down the mountain face. A thin layer of frost coats the upper ridges, catching the fading light in subtle gray highlights.
