Indigo twilight washes the park bench in a hard, crystalline shell of freezing rain. The metal frame and wooden slats are completely encased, transforming the structure into a jagged, transparent sculpture. Above, fast-moving cloud bands sweep across the darkening sky, their undersides illuminated by the last ambient light reflecting off a nearby water surface. The dry season air leaves the ground beneath the bench bare and dusty, against the slick, glassy ice coating the seat.
