Snow Sculpture on Park Bench in Botswana Fog
by Liam Skinner
White flakes accumulate heavily on the curved backrest and slats of a metal park bench, transforming the seat into a rounded, white sculpture against the gray morning. Deep shadows pool beneath the bench while a sharp rim light traces the edges of the accumulating snow, highlighting individual crystals suspended in the air. The surrounding landscape dissolves into low marine fog, obscuring distant trees and leaving only the immediate foreground visible. Dry, brown grass pokes through the snow near the bench legs, contrasting the cold white accumulation with the arid earth of the dry season. The bench sits isolated, its form softened by the weight of the precipitation, while the fog hangs thick and still around the scene. One flake rests on the rim of the seat, catching the light.
