Fallingwater House Winter Mist Morning Light in in United States

Fallingwater House Winter Mist Morning Light

by Raquel Barrett

Thick mist rests on the deep green ferns and bare branches surrounding the concrete terraces of the house. The structure extends horizontally over the rushing water, its flat stone surfaces catching the pale gray sidelight that skims across the rough texture of the rock. A Dutch angle tilt tilts the horizon, making the cantilevers appear to defy gravity against the dark, churning stream below. The sky remains a uniform sheet of white fog, softening the distant tree line. Wet stone reflects the dim light, while the water below creates a blur of white foam as it crashes against the rocks. at the edge is the sharp edge of a concrete slab cutting diagonally across the frame, holding back the encroaching forest.
