Frosty Lotus Field Siberian Cliff Autumn Noon
by Mike Gardner
Flat noon light strikes a cluster of dried lotus stalks rising from a frozen, salt-sprayed surface along a jagged cliff edge. The scene belongs to a Siberian winter landscape, yet the botanical forms are unmistakably lotus, their brown, brittle stems standing rigid against the gray sky. A thin layer of white frost coats every leaf remnant and the surrounding icy ground, creating a textured, crystalline crust. The water below reflects the pale sun, casting a cool, metallic sheen across the foreground. Salt crystals glitter on the rock face behind the plants, showing the harsh, exposed environment. The composition remains stark and minimalist, isolating the weather-beaten stems against the vast, empty horizon. A final drop of ice hangs precariously from the tip of the highest dried pod.
