Fog Trapped Below Salvador Mountain Peak in through low marine fog near Salvador

Fog Trapped Below Salvador Mountain Peak

by Jonas Maxwell

A thick layer of marine fog blankets the lower slopes near Salvador, forming a dense white sea that halts abruptly against the rugged mountain base. Above this soft horizon, the peak rises sharply into a perfectly clear, bright blue sky. Late afternoon sunlight illuminates the cloud tops, casting a warm glow on the mist's upper surface while the valleys below remain shrouded in cool gray shadow. The diagonal line where the fog meets the rock creates a stark visual tension. Green vegetation rests on the exposed rock face above the inversion, against the smooth, featureless expanse of the trapped moisture below. at the edge is a jagged rock spire piercing the cloud layer, standing isolated against the open blue.
