Floatplane Landing on Remote Bush Lake at Dusk
by Damon Hunter
Steel-blue ambient light washes the surface of a remote lake as a floatplane descends toward the water, its pontoons skimming just above the ripples. Behind the aircraft, distant city lights begin to glow against the darkening horizon, marking the edge of the ferry crossing near Yola. Rainy season moisture hangs in the air, visible as a fine mist clinging to the plane's fuselage and the surrounding trees. White sea spray erupts from the pontoons where they meet the dark water, creating a chaotic splash that contrasts with the stillness of the distant shoreline. The aircraft's rear fuselage dominates the foreground, obscuring the cockpit view while the tail section points upward into the gloom. Water droplets rest on the metal skin of the float, reflecting the faint orange glow of the approaching city lights. One droplet slides down the trailing edge of the right float, disappearing into the churning wake below.
