Fire Whirl Rises Over Stubble Near Heraklion

Amber light illuminates a spiraling column of smoke and flame twisting upward from dry, golden stubble. The fire whirl stands sharp against a backdrop of stacked thunderheads lining the horizon near Heraklion. Late summer heat warms the cut stalks, turning them into a sea of brittle straw that glows under the setting sun. The sky above remains perfectly clear, devoid of clouds except for the distant storm wall. Diagonal lines formed by the rising smoke create visual tension against the horizontal layers of the landscape. Shadows stretch long across the field, highlighting the rough texture of the burnt earth. at the edge is the thin, dark ribbon of ash curling off the top of the vortex into the clear air.
