Fire Whirl Spins in Wet Season Fog in through low marine fog near Palakkad

Fire Whirl Spins in Wet Season Fog

by Ezra Copeland

A column of swirling smoke and flames rises from the green grass, caught in the deep shadow of early morning mist. Low marine fog rests on the ground near Palakkad, softening the edges of the fire perimeter. A sharp rim light cuts through the damp air, outlining the turbulent vortex against the dark, wet earth. The grass around the base glows orange where the heat touches it, while the surrounding vegetation remains a muted, water-heavy green. The smoke twists upward in a tight spiral, its texture thick and gray before dissolving into the pale white fog above. A thin wisp of vapor drifts across the bottom right corner.
