Fawn Hidden in Tall Grass Near Tidal Inlet
Thick, sun-bleached stalks of dry meadow grass dominate the foreground, their pale yellow and tan hues creating a dense, textured barrier. A young deer fawn with a spotted coat of soft brown and white blends seamlessly into this vegetation, its small head barely rising above the blades. The light falls through overhead leaves, casting shifting patches of bright white and deep shadow across the fawn's fur and the surrounding stems. Behind the grass, a narrow strip of dark, muddy water marks the edge of a tidal inlet under a heavy, gray overcast sky. The fawn stands perfectly still, its ears pricked forward, muscles coiled in silent alertness. The texture of the dry grass contrasts sharply with the smooth, wet mud visible at the water's edge.
