Fawn Hidden in Ningbo Meadow Grass Noon Light
by Gina Floyd
Dry, straw-colored stalks of tall meadow grass dominate the foreground, their brittle tips catching the harsh, flat glare of midday sun. A young deer fawn stands motionless within this dense vegetation, its spotted coat blending seamlessly with the parched yellow and brown hues of the dry season. The coastal light strikes the scene with intensity, casting short, sharp shadows beneath the grass blades and highlighting the fine texture of the fawn's fur. Behind the grass, the air appears hazy, suggesting the recent passage of a storm clearing over the Ningbo landscape. The fawn's ears twitch slightly, frozen in a moment of alert stillness against the rigid, sun-bleached stalks that rise to its chest. One blade of dried grass rests against the animal's dark, wet nose, marking the boundary between the creature and the field.
