Erhu on Stand Skopje Festival Dawn Firelight
Flickering firelight washes the polished black lacquer of an erhu resting on a rough-hewn wooden stand at the edge of a stone stage in Skopje. The instrument's curved neck and two taut silk strings reflect the warm orange glow against the deepening blue of the pre-dawn sky visible above. Golden and russet early autumn leaves hang from branches framing the background, against the cool gray stone of the stage architecture.
