Warm golden light falls through overhead leaves, creating shifting dappled patterns across a dark, polished erhu resting on a carved wooden stand. Fine, dry dust motes drift through the illuminated beams, suspended in the late afternoon air. The instrument's slender neck and two taut strings reflect the warm hues of the dry season, against the lighter, textured grain of the support structure. Surrounding the base, the rough, dusty ground of the street corner blends with the intricate carvings of the stand's legs. One sliver of light rests on the bridge, highlighting the precise joinery of the instrument's body against the soft shadows of the leaves above.
