Low morning light cuts through the haze over the active mining site in Pernambuco, illuminating the massive steel structure of a dragline excavator. The wet season drizzle coats the machine's rusted orange surfaces, turning the metal slick and reflective. Thick cables stretch taut across the frame, connecting the boom to the digging bucket suspended above a deep pit. The surrounding landscape is a chaotic mix of churned earth and muddy water, with the horizon obscured by a soft, grey atmospheric veil. Raindrops bead on the heavy hydraulic hoses and run in rivulets down the operator's cab windows. The scale of the machinery dominates the wide panoramic view, dwarfing the distant treeline. A final shadow stretches across the wet ground, marking the position of the sun.
