Wet steel ribs of a demolition chute mouth dominate the foreground, angled sharply against a dark, rain-slicked excavation edge. Steady rain creates a fine, continuous sheet of water that distorts the starlight above into a blurred, gray canopy. Faint ground glow reflects off the puddles surrounding heavy, mud-caked construction equipment resting near the tape barriers. The winter air hangs heavy, visible only as the relentless drizzle coating every surface in a dark sheen. A worker's high-visibility vest hangs limp and sodden on a nearby rail, its fluorescent orange muted by the predawn gloom. The slanting light barely penetrates the heavy clouds, leaving the scene in deep shadows punctuated only by the wet sheen of metal and the rhythmic fall of water droplets hitting the muddy ground.
