Sunlight falls through dense foliage, casting shifting patches of brightness and shadow across a massive dragline excavator operating in a Sichuan mine. The machine's steel tracks rest on damp concrete, where recent activity has left a sheen of moisture. Thick vapor hangs in the air, softening the edges of the overburden being stripped. A service road runs alongside the equipment, lined with industrial pipes that snake along the ground. The Dutch angle tilt of the view emphasizes the towering height of the boom against the late summer greenery. Rust streaks the metal surfaces, against the vibrant leaves overhead. A heavy shadow falls across the undercarriage, at the base of the machine in the gritty earth.
