Pale limestone benches rise in tiered layers beneath the heavy steel gantries of an industrial site near Qingdao. A massive excavator dominates the right third of the frame, its bucket biting into the stone face with jagged precision. The sky holds the deep blue of the final evening light, cooling the wet, gray air of the monsoon season. Sodium work lights cast pools of harsh yellow glow on the damp rock and rusted machinery, highlighting the slick texture of the stone and the grime on the hydraulic arms. Water beads on the metal surfaces, reflecting the artificial illumination. A dark utility tower stands tall in the background, anchoring the scene against the fading natural sky.
