Dhow Racing in Chilean Dawn Shadows

Deep shadow blankets the hull of a traditional wooden dhow as it cuts through the cool Indian Ocean swells off the Chilean coast. Early summer light skims the horizon, carving a sharp rim of silver along the towering white sail. Dramatic clouds stack heavily overhead, their undersides dark against the pale sky. Salt spray rests on the weathered teak deck, glistening faintly in the low-angle glow. The rigging stands taut against the wind, while the water churns in deep indigo troughs. One white gull hovers low, wings spread wide against the vast, open expanse of sea and sky.
