Copper Beech Leaves Floodplain Venezuela Morning in across a floodplain after rain in Venezuela

Copper Beech Leaves Floodplain Venezuela Morning

by Emilio Heath

Copper and burnt orange beech leaves blanket the damp earth of a Venezuelan floodplain, creating a textured carpet under the late morning sky. A thin layer of light fog hovers low over the saturated ground, softening the edges of scattered branches and stones. Dappled sunlight falls through the high canopy, casting shifting patches of bright gold and deep shadow across the leaf litter. The soil appears dark and heavy with recent rain, against the dry, brittle texture of the fallen foliage. Large, weathered rocks emerge partially from the leaf layer, at the base of the composition with clear ancient, still presence. The light fades into a soft gray mist at the far edge of the frame.
